Schwarzman Scholars Marks Official Start

The convocation ceremony of Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University was held on September 10th for the first cohort of 110 Schwarzman Scholars hailing from all corners of the world. Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Barack Obama both sent congratulatory letters to the convocation ceremony. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong gave a speech at the ceremony.

The Signing and Unveiling Ceremony of International Center for Engineering Education under the Auspices of UNESCO was held in Beijing on the morning of June 6, 2016. Irina Bokova, Director-General of United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization(UNESCO), Zhou Ji, director of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Wu Qidi, the former vice-minister of the Ministry of Education (MOE), Qiu Yong, president of Tsinghua University, Yang Bin, vice-president of Tsinghua university and executive director of International Center for Engineering Education of UNESCO attended this ceremony. Zhao Xian’geng, a Party member of the CAE, presided over this event.

Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute

Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI) is jointly established in 2014 by the UC Berkeley, Tsinghua University and the Shenzhen municipal government on the initiative of promoting research collaboration and graduate student education. The institute starts with research centers in three areas: environment science and new energy technology; information technology and data science; precision medicine and healthcare. As a platform for innovative research and graduate-student education with parallel functionality on the two partner campuses, the institute will integrate research programs at both UC Berkeley and Tsinghua University to address societal needs and global challenges.
